Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde Nomad Hexagon Pearl Grey/Carbon Gloss Adjustable Exhaust for BMW R 1250 GS / GS Adventure (2019-2020) [EP-142085]

The Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde Nomad Hexagon Pearl Grey/Carbon Gloss is an electronically adjustable slip-on exhaust made for the BMW R 1250 GS / GS Adventure (2019-2020). With one push of a button a valve inside the muffler closes, opens halfway or fully opens, giving you three sound modes: Dr. Jekill, Dynamic and Mr. Hyde.

It is street legal with ECE, EG-BE and TÜV approval, comes with a 4 year warranty and is fully compatible with a set of cases on the bike. Finish: Pearl grey body with gloss carbon end cap and aluminium core. The same part number (EP-142085) also fits the BMW R 1200 GS / GS Adventure (2017-2018); we list it separately for each bike.

Key Specifications

How do the three sound modes work on the R 1250 GS?

Press the button once for Dr. Jekill mode, once for Mr. Hyde mode, or twice for Dynamic mode. In Dr. Jekill mode the valve stays closed for a quiet, whispering sound in town or on long tours. Dynamic mode opens the valve halfway for a more pronounced note, and Mr. Hyde mode opens it fully for a deep rumble off the beaten path.

Is the Nomad street legal?

Yes. Every Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde system contains a smartbox, an electronic control unit that reads CANBUS signals from the motorcycle's ECU. Its software intervenes subtly when the legal parameters are reached, so the exhaust stays street legal in all riding modes. It is ECE, EG-BE and TÜV approved.

Will I lose power when the valve is closed?

No. The design of the exhaust means there is no loss in performance while riding with a closed valve, and opening the valve realises an increase in performance. If you tune the bike, the difference between open and closed valve gets bigger, and tuning can influence the legality of the system.

Does it work with panniers and how does it look?

The Nomad is fully compatible with a set of cases, and the brand's engineers and test riders confirmed the heat does not affect them. The indentation in the pearl grey body matches the fuel tank so the exhaust looks like an integral part of the GS, and the end cap insert stays recognisable from behind even with the cases mounted. It is German engineered and built with Dutch craftsmanship.
