BMW M 1000 RS: Full Specs and Gallery (EICMA 2027)

2027 BMW M 1000 RS side profile

BMW used EICMA to reveal the M 1000 RS, a limited edition hyper-naked restricted to a run of 1,000 units. The RS badge is a deliberate nod to BMW's racing heritage: rather than the usual Reise Sport (sport-touring) meaning, here RS stands for Rennsport, or Motorsport, harking back to models like the 1939 R 51 RS and the 1954 RS54.

In essence, the M 1000 RS combines the naked M 1000 R with the more powerful engine from the M 1000 RR superbike. The 999cc ShiftCam Inline-Four carries the RR's tune, claiming 215 hp at 14,500 rpm and 83.3 lb-ft at 11,000 rpm in Europe. In the U.S., EPA noise rules bring that down to a claimed 205 hp. Beyond the engine, it is built on the M 1000 R with the M Competition package, adopting the M rider footrest system from the RR and raising the seat height by 0.8 inches to 33.4 inches to put more load on the front wheel.
