Norton 450 Urban Concept: First Look at the Brand's Futuristic A2 Single

Norton 450 urban concept side profile

Norton Motorcycles continued its resurgence at EICMA 2027 with a new concept tentatively called the 450 urban. Norton actually showed two versions of the model, both pushing the brand's futuristic design language further.

The 450 urban is powered by a liquid-cooled 454cc single, with Norton claiming 47 hp at 8,000 rpm and 33.2 lb-ft at 6,000 rpm, figures that make it compliant with European A2 license requirements.

Norton balks at calling it an entry-level motorcycle, preferring to frame it as an entry-point to the brand thanks to several premium touches: large surfaces painted in modern colors, minimal edges and visible fixings, thin gaps between panels, and a covered fuel cap. One potentially polarizing choice is that most of the engine is covered, bucking the tradition of placing the engine as the centerpiece of the design.

Chassis and electronics

The engine is mounted to a lightweight aluminum twin-spar frame. KYB supplies the suspension, including a fully adjustable 43mm inverted fork, rare in this class, and a rear monoshock with adjustable rebound and preload. Braking comes from ByBre, the Brembo-owned brand that typically produces brakes for Indian manufacturers such as TVS, Norton's owner.

The 450 urban carries a package of electronics that many brands still do not offer on larger models: three selectable ride modes, cruise control, a quickshifter, cornering ABS and traction control, all managed on an almost comically large 8-inch TFT touchscreen with a USB-C port.
