2027 Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade: First Look at the New Base, SP and HRC Works Edition

Honda announced an updated CBR1000RR-R Fireblade for 2027, and this time it comes in three versions: the base model, the upgraded SP, and the even more premium HRC Works Edition. The big story is that Honda developed the new Fireblade first and foremost as a World Superbike contender, using Honda Racing Corporation expertise, with mass-production street needs coming second.
Development focused on corner entry, mid-corner speed and acceleration out of corners. Honda designed an all-new frame with a focus on rigidity and steering geometry, paired with a lighter swingarm. The combination raises the center of gravity and puts more load on the front wheel.
Chassis and suspension
The base CBR1000RR-R uses a revised Showa 43mm Big Piston Fork with new triple clamps, and a BFRC-Lite rear shock that now attaches to a lower part of the engine. The SP steps up to Ohlins Smart Electronic Control (SE-C3.0) with a 43mm NPX electronic fork and TTX36 electronic rear shock, while the HRC Works Edition runs a fully adjustable Ohlins NPX fork and TTX36 shock. All versions offer 4.9 inches of front travel and 5.6 inches of rear travel.
Aerodynamics and engine
The base and SP follow the updated CBR600RR in using a new front spoiler in place of winglets, supported by lower sidepods developed from Honda's MotoGP program. The HRC Works Edition instead adds carbon fiber winglets that Honda claims offer 35 times the downforce of the standard model.
The engine gains new magnesium covers, lightweight aluminum fasteners, a higher compression ratio and revised cam timing. Honda claims a maximum output of 214 hp at 14,000 rpm, unchanged from the previous model, while torque peaks at a claimed 84.1 lb-ft at 10,500 rpm, a slight increase.
